Welcome to the House of Hockey

Todd CarlsonI was born and raised in Superior, Wisconsin, on December 27th, 1968 where I began skating and playing hockey at the age of 4 at the Red Barn in the Central Park area of Superior. I began my ice hockey journey by playing youth hockey for the Superior Amateur Hockey Association in 1974 playing with the Central Park Pintos (yes, named after the car), the 10U Superior Robins “AA”, 12U Superior Blues “AA” and 14U Superior  Flyers “AA” before moving on to play for the Superior Senior High School Spartans at the age of 16 in 1984.

After graduating from SSHS in 1987, I continued my ice hockey career by enrolling in Hibbing Community College, where I played junior college hockey. My time at Hibbing was a crucial stepping stone in my career, as I was able hone my skills and gained valuable experience playing at a higher level of competition.

I am super grateful for the lessons I have learned and the experiences I have had while playing youth hockey, high school hockey, and junior hockey in northern Wisconsin and Minnesota. I am forever thankful to my parents, coaches, teammates, and community for supporting and encouraging me throughout my hockey journey.

Looking back on my career, I am proud of what I have accomplished on the ice. I am grateful for the opportunities that hockey has provided me and am thankful for the friendships and connections I have made along the way. For me, the lessons I have learned and the memories I have made during my youth hockey and high school hockey days will always hold a special place in my heart. Once a Spartan, Always a Spartan!

Today, I reside in Verona, Wisconsin, with my wife Ann and our son Camden, where I continue to give back to the sport that has given me so much. I currently coach our son Camden at the U14 Bantam level with the Verona Wildcats Youth Hockey Association and I am passionate about passing on my knowledge and love for the game to the next generation of players. I am also involved in several charitable organizations.

I began my coaching career in Superior at the youth level, coaching for several teams in Wisconsin including Superior, McFarland, West Madison and Verona. I quickly became known for my ability to teach the game, develop players’ skills, and foster a love of the sport. I have dedicated myself to giving back to the sport that has given me so much, working tirelessly to ensure that young players have access to quality coaching and equipment. With over 50 years of playing and coaching experience, I continue to strive to be a valuable asset to the hockey community. I continue to coach at the youth level and I am always willing to share my knowledge and expertise with parents and players of all ages. I am dedicated to the sport and my community which has helped to make me a true ambassador for the sport.

tcarlson-188I am also a former semi-pro motorcycle road racer and instructor.  There is nothing like 150+mph with your knee down and hang’n off the seat!

I competed in the CCS Series at local tracks like Blackhawk Farms Raceway in South Beloit, IL and Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI.  I was fortunate enough to win many races over my 15 year career including a Mid-West Regional Championship.
